I’m so excited to share my latest sew as part of my Sew Inspired Ambassador project for Beyond the Pink Door. This time, I made a pair of trousers that I already know are going to be a real wardrobe staple.
The Pattern: Rose Pants by Made by Rae
I chose the Rose Pants sewing pattern by Made by Rae, and I can honestly say it’s a pattern I would highly recommend. The Rose Pants feature a flattering high waist, slash pockets, and a pleated or gathered front. The design is especially clever, with a flat front waistband for a clean finish and an elasticated back waistband that adds both comfort and ease of fit.
The pattern includes options for long length, cropped, or shorts, making it incredibly versatile. I opted for the long version, and I love the classic, elegant shape it creates — smart enough to dress up, but comfortable enough for everyday wear.

The Fabric: Woven Bamboo Stretch from Beyond the Pink Door
For this project, I used a woven bamboo fabric with stretch from Beyond the Pink Door, and it was an absolute dream to work with. The fabric is made from a premium blend of 49% bamboo, 49% recycled polyester, and 2% lycra, giving it a beautiful drape, a soft hand feel, and just the right amount of stretch.

In fact, I genuinely thought this fabric was a bamboo–cotton mix because of how easy and well-behaved it was to sew with. It pressed beautifully, handled wonderfully under the machine, and felt luxurious from start to finish. It’s also eco-conscious, which makes it even more satisfying to wear.

Sizing and Fit
For reference, my body measurements are:
High bust: 34”
Full bust: 40”
Waist: 32”
Hips: 40”
I chose to make a size Medium, and overall I’m really happy with the fit, especially through the waist and hips. That said, because of the elasticated back waistband and the lovely stretch in the fabric, I think I could comfortably size down next time and would consider making a Small for a slightly slimmer fit.
The Finished Make
I’m so pleased with how these trousers turned out. I feel I’ve achieved a truly classic pair of trousers that will work for so many occasions — dressed up or worn casually. They’re comfortable, flattering, and stylish, which is exactly what I look for in a handmade garment.
They also pair perfectly with my previous ambassador project, the Alexa Blouse, making them a great addition to my handmade wardrobe.
Final Thoughts
I would absolutely recommend both the Rose Pants pattern and this bamboo fabric from Beyond the Pink Door. Together, they make a winning combination and result in a garment that feels as good as it looks.
Thank you so much to Beyond the Pink Door for the opportunity to be part of this inspiring project — I can’t wait to share more makes soon.
