What You’ll Need

  • Fabric: Cut one main fabric piece, 20.5” x 5.5”

  • Interfacing: Cut one piece, 20” x 5”

  • Sewing supplies: Scissors or rotary cutter, sewing clips or pins, ruler, sewing machine, iron

  • Optional: Snaps (or Velcro/button) for closure

Step 1: Mark Your Fold Lines

Lay your long strip of fabric with the wrong side facing up.

  • Measure and mark a line 2.5” from one short edge.

  • From that line, mark another line 2.5” over.

  • Repeat this process, marking each fold line every 2.25” until you’ve marked five fold sections.

This will guide you in folding the fabric to create the pockets later.

Step 2: Fold the Fabric

Start folding on the left short side:

  1. Fold the fabric to the first mark (wrong side facing).

  2. Flip the fabric over and fold again at the second line.

  3. Continue this accordion-style folding until you reach the last mark.

  4. Finally, fold the unfolded right short edge over to meet the left edge, sandwiching the pockets inside.

Press everything flat and clip in place to hold.

Step 3: Sew the Seams

Now it’s time to stitch!

  • Sew along the two side seams only (not the folded or pocket edges).

  • Use a ¼” seam allowance, backstitching at the beginning and end.

  • Trim or clip the seams to reduce bulk.

Tip: If there’s an opening left at the fold, you can tuck it neatly inside or even glue it closed.

Step 4: Turn and Add Snaps

Turn the pouch right side out through the pocket opening.

  • Push out the corners and press the pouch flat.

  • Fold the pockets back into position and press again.

  • To finish, fold the pouch in half, mark the placement for your snap (or button/Velcro), and attach it.

That’s it—you’ve got a neat little pouch ready to use!
