Good Eggs, Great Makes & Plenty of Fizz – My #SewFizz25 Adventure!

Fabric, fizz, and friendship — what more could a maker want? ✨

After weeks of excitement and outfit planning, #SewFizz25 finally arrived — and it was everything I hoped for (and a little bit more). Here’s my round-up of a weekend full of laughter, sewing, and sparkle!

Friday – Travel, Tea & Catch-Ups ☕💬

After a morning of packing, I treated myself to some long-overdue self-care — fresh nails to match my Saturday outfit and an eyebrow tidy (at last!).

By mid-afternoon, I was off to Leamington Spa station to catch the train to Basingstoke and then onward to Woking. The first leg was standing room only — two hours of wobbling down the aisle! Thankfully, a kind young man helped keep me upright the whole way (proof that chivalry isn’t dead!).

Finally, I arrived in Woking where the lovely Lucy (@thesewinggardener) picked me up. Together we met Mandy (@makeitsew) and Claire at our Airbnb — our sewing dream team for the weekend!

After a much-needed cuppa, a supermarket run for weekend supplies, and a quick change, we wandered just five minutes down the road for a super tasty pub meal.

Back at the house, we poured a few glasses of wine and spent the evening chatting all things sewing — patterns, fabrics, projects, and plans — before finally calling it a night.

Saturday – Sew, Sip & Sparkle ✨

Saturday morning dawned bright and full of excitement! We decided to head out for a good breakfast to fuel us through the day.

We wandered into Woking and found the loveliest little lounge bar serving the most delicious breakfast — and most importantly… eggs! 🥚 After a hearty meal and a good laugh, we headed back to get changed and snap a few cheeky garden photos before the main event.

The Main Event 🎉

Outfits ready and Uber booked — it was time for #SewFizz25 at The Lighthouse Project!

When we arrived, the buzz was incredible. The pavement outside was already full of sewists dressed in their afternoon tea best, showing off beautiful handmade outfits, ready for a fizzy afternoon. The excitement was real!

We were greeted with a glass of fizz, a raffle ticket, and asked to find our seats. The room was bustling, tables perfectly laid for a creative celebration.

Afternoon Tea & Catwalk Fun 🍰

On offer was a dreamy selection of sandwiches, scones (jam first, naturally!), and mini cakes — all washed down with endless cups of tea. ☕

Then came the catwalk, and what a joy it was! The talent and creativity on display were incredible. Every outfit told a story — colour, craftsmanship, confidence — it was inspiring to see so many makers looking amazing in their me-made creations.

Raffle Time & Evening Wind-Down 🎟️

Then came the raffle… and I won a prize! 🎉 Huge thanks to The Specky Seamstress — I couldn’t have been more thrilled!

We all left with an amazing Goody bag too!!

After the event wrapped up around 5 p.m., we gathered a few friendly faces and wandered to a local pub to round off the evening. Drinks, laughter, and plenty more sewing chat — the perfect end to a fantastic day.

Sunday – Homeward Bound 🚆💛

Sunday came around far too quickly — checkout day already!

We packed our bags, said goodbye to our cosy Airbnb, and headed back to the same lovely lounge bar for breakfast. You can never have too many good eggs, right? 🥚✨

Over tea and coffee, we reflected on all the fun we’d had — the laughter, inspiration, and new friendships. Then it was time to part ways.

I hopped back on the train to Leamington — and this time, hooray! I managed to get a seat. A peaceful ride home, full of happy memories and a head buzzing with sewing ideas.

#SewFizz25 was everything I’d hoped it would be and more — a weekend overflowing with creativity, community, and pure joy. Huge thanks to everyone who organised, attended, and made it such a special event.

I’m heading home with a happy heart, a sewing to-do list a mile long, and just maybe… plans already forming for the next adventure.
